Escape to Orange: A perfect weekend getaway from Sydney

Nestled in the heart of New South Wales, Orange is a charming town known for its beautiful vineyards, historic buildings, and stunning countryside. With its relaxed atmosphere and friendly locals, Orange is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway from Sydney. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and discover our guide to the best weekend away in Orange.

Visit the local wineries

Orange is known for its vineyards and wineries, so a visit to one of them is a must-do. Take a wine tour and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside while tasting some of the region's best wines. We recommend visiting De Salis Wines (a GoGet fave!) and trying out their Lofty Pinot Noir and Wild Fume Blanc. You won’t regret it! They are also home to some adorable vineyard dogs (make sure to give them a pat from us). Visit at sunset for gorgeous views to accompany the gorgeous wines. Another fantastic nearby winery is Rowlee Wines. You can’t go wrong checking out either one.

Visit Milthorpe

Millthorpe is a historic village located just 20 minutes drive from Orange. It was established in the 19th century and still retains many of its original buildings and architecture, giving visitors a glimpse into the past. The village is a popular destination for foodies, with several award-winning restaurants and cafes serving up delicious local produce. Visit Tonic for dinner for an extraordinary dining experience. They do a 5 course set menu which changes week to week so even if you’ve been before it’s worth going back again. And again. You will need to book in advance though as they can get busy!

Millthorpe is also home to a number of boutique shops and galleries, making it a great place to pick up unique souvenirs and gifts. Don't miss the Millthorpe Markets, held on the first Sunday of every month, where you can browse handmade crafts, sample local food and wine, and enjoy live music.
